Derek Harrar previously served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video and Entertainment Services at Comcast Corporation. In this position, Mr. Harrar was responsible for all aspects of Comcast's $19 billion flagship video business, including basic and digital cable, HD and DVR services, as well as management of Video On Demand for Comcast's 24 million video customers. Previously, Mr. Harrar served as Vice President of Video Product Management for Comcast. Before that, he was the lead product manager for Comcast's portfolio of set-top boxes as Vice President of Subscriber Equipment. He joined Comcast in 2004 as Vice President of Business Development.
Since leaving Comcast, Mr. Harrar advises private equity firms and their portfolio companies on technology, media and telecom investing and operating strategies. Prior to Comcast, Mr. Harrar served as co-founder of Silicon Valley startup MegaSense and served as its Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Harrar's career began with eight years as an investment banker, primarily with Morgan Stanley in Silicon Valley and New York. He advised clients such as HP, KKR, @Home, Grupo Televisa, LSI Logic and VeriSign on 45 announced transactions aggregating over $60 billion.
Mr. Harrar holds a BS with Special Attainments in Commerce from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. He resides in Philadelphia with his wife and four daughters.
